Roger Wade (1963–2024) dedicated much of his life to the football program that is known today as the Westshore Rebels. Long before becoming the team's General Manager, Roger proudly wore jersey #52 as a player with the franchise during its Victoria Payless era, helping continue a tradition of junior football on Vancouver Island that dates back to 1971. That same franchise would later become the Victoria Rebels before relocating to Langford as the Westshore Rebels.

After his playing career, Roger remained committed to the organization, eventually serving as General Manager, where he became a mentor, leader, recruiter, and tireless advocate for junior football. His passion for developing young athletes and strengthening the football community helped shape the Rebels into one of British Columbia's premier junior football programs.

Roger's impact extended well beyond the football field. He served four terms as a Langford City Councillor from 2008 to 2022, championing projects that improved parks, recreation, transportation, housing, and community development. He believed that sports build character, create opportunities, and strengthen communities.

Following Roger's passing on July 23, 2024, the Westshore Rebels honoured his lifelong dedication by wearing a W52 decal on every player's helmet throughout the season—a tribute to the jersey number he proudly wore as a player and the lasting legacy he left behind.
